Intentional Speaking: A Spiritual Practice

When I am giddy with the prospect of juicy gossip, John O’Donohue throws down this gauntlet to me:

May you not disrespect your mystery
 through brittle words or false belonging.

Physicists tell us that our thoughts are energy and energy doesn’t die.  Do I really want the negative energy of gossip to be my lingering legacy in the universe?

  1. Rita, thanks for sharing; -for me brittle words sounds like anything not embodied, false belonging – social nicety pretense; and I trust that a lot of debris will a) transform before I pass on or even b) might be useful in a new disguise somewhere else. Thanks again for the inspiration.
