Playdate With The Divine

THAT SHAPES THE EYE
Children
Can easily open the Drawer
That lets the spirit rise up and wear
Its favorite costume of Mirth and laughter.

When the mind is consumed with
Remembrance of Him
Something divine happens to the Heart
That Shapes the hand and tongue
And eye into
The word Love.

  1. I just came back from spending a month in the company of my 2 3/4 year old granddaughter. Joy is pretty much all she knows: laughter, running everywhere, having baths, getting teased, getting tickled, being read to. It is surely our responsibility to be carriers of Joy – to be as little children. Hafiz’ poem is a lovely reminder of that call. (Or you can visit my granddaugher.)

    • What a joy your comment is, Brian. Thank you for sharing it with us. I just saw a video of my grand great nephew giggling hysterically…over nothing! He is one of triplets. Their mom dresses them in themes just to give us all some delight.
